photo assemblage!

It all started with my photography, mounted images coated with multiple layers of acrylic ....yes, giving it that wax Encaustic effect that I love o-so much!

Then one day I stepped back & looked at all my leftover strips of images, an 'aha' moment.  rearranged them weaving random color, texture & pattern, coming up with compositions that touched me even more than the original images themselves.

For those of you that have followed my artwork through the years, back to even my Portland days...you may remember my assemblages.  Functional structures created out of found wood knobs, finials, plates, bowls, salt/pepper shakers, a whole assortment of shapes & sizes.  I constructed boxes with lids, pedestals & even furniture, then collaged & painted the surfaces.

Well all those found bits have stayed with me through all my moves, taking on new forms & surfaces.  Here are just a few!

through my eyes...

I began photographing years ago...
documenting color, form, textures & patterns, both in nature & urban settings.
Creating this 'almost' endless resource for my drawings,
paintings and even my sculptures.

Several years back, with encouragement from friends, I began selling some of my actual images.  I mount the photo onto wood panels, wrapping the image onto the sides, then coating the entire surface with multiple layers of acrylic.
This not only gives it a wax encaustic effect, but it creates a protective finish coat.

Here are just a few of my images,
more can be found through out my 'artist-to-artist' blog.
