photo assemblage!

It all started with my photography, mounted images coated with multiple layers of acrylic ....yes, giving it that wax Encaustic effect that I love o-so much!  

Then one day I stepped back & looked at all my leftover strips of images, an 'aha' moment.  I rearranged them weaving random color, texture & pattern, coming up with compositions that touched me even more than the original images themselves.   

For those of you that have followed my artwork through the years, back to even my Portland days...you may remember my assemblages.  Functional structures created out of found wood knobs, finials, plates, bowls, salt/pepper shakers, a whole assortment of shapes & sizes.  I constructed boxes with lids, pedestals & even furniture, then collaged & painted the surfaces.

Well all those found bits have stayed with me through all my moves, taking on new forms & surfaces.  Here are just a few!
